How does a hairstyle try-on work?

Visio AI is a hairstyle try-on app for iPhone and Android. You upload one front-facing photo, pick a cut from the library, and the AI redraws only the hair while keeping your face, expression and background exactly as they were. A result takes about a minute.

It works on any hair length and texture, including curls, and it renders both shorter and longer looks. Every new account starts with a free trial, so you can test a few cuts before deciding on Pro.

How to try on a hairstyle in 3 steps

  1. Take or pick a photo

Face the camera, pull hair away from your face and use even light. A plain background helps but is not required.

  2. Choose a cut

Browse by length (short, medium, long), by style (bob, pixie, bangs, layers, braids, updos) or search by name.

  3. Compare and save

Swipe between the original and the result, save the ones you like and bring them to your stylist.

Every result below was rendered from the single photo on the left of the hero. Nothing else was edited, so the differences you see are the cuts themselves.

Tap or hover any result to see the original photo underneath.

Which haircut suits your face shape?

Face shape is a starting point, not a rule. Use it to pick the first three cuts to try, then let the rendering decide.

What the AI changes and what it keeps

The rendering only touches the hair region. Your eyes, nose, mouth, skin texture, makeup, earrings and clothing come through untouched, which is why the results are believable enough to show a stylist.

Short hair, long hair, curls and bangs

Going shorter is the most common reason people try on hairstyles, and it is where a preview saves the most regret. Visio AI renders bobs, lobs and pixies with a natural neckline and ears instead of a pasted-on wig.

Going longer works too: the AI extends hair past your current length for long layers, braids and buns. Curly and coily textures keep their curl pattern unless you pick a straight style on purpose, and bangs are drawn to follow your hairline.

Hairstyle try-on for men and for kids

The library includes men's cuts (fades, crops, quiffs, buzz cuts and longer styles) and the same photo rules apply. For children, use a photo you have permission to edit and keep the app account under an adult.

What happens to your photo

Your photo is uploaded over an encrypted connection, used to render the result you asked for, and is not used to train models. You can delete any project inside the app and the associated images are removed with it.

Results are AI renderings on your own photo. They show how a look could sit on you, not a guarantee of how a salon, camera or product will reproduce it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the hairstyle try-on free?

Every new account gets a free trial that includes hairstyle previews. After the trial, Pro unlocks unlimited renders across every feature in Visio AI.

Can I try on hairstyles with my own picture?

Yes. That is the whole point: the AI renders each cut on your actual photo rather than on a stock model, so your face, skin tone and hairline stay yours.

Does it work for curly hair?

It does. Curl pattern is preserved for cuts that suit it (lobs, layers, bobs) and you can also preview straight or wavy versions of the same cut.

Can I see short hair before cutting it?

Yes, and it is the most useful case. Try a bob, a lob and a pixie side by side and save the ones you like to show your stylist.

Is there a version for men?

Yes. Men's cuts are in the same library, from buzz cuts and fades to longer textured styles.

How accurate is the preview?

The rendering is drawn on your real photo with your real proportions, so shape and length are reliable. Exact finish depends on your hair density and your stylist, so treat it as a strong preview rather than a promise.

Can I change the hair color at the same time?

Yes. Render the cut first, then open the result in the hair color feature to try shades on the new shape.

Which photo works best?

Front-facing, eyes to the camera, hair off the face and soft even light. Avoid hats, heavy shadows and wide-angle selfies taken very close.

Can I use it on Android?

Yes. Visio AI is on the App Store and Google Play with the same hairstyle library.
